What Are Your Values?

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”

— Robert Frost

I often took the roads that were less traveled, always carefully calculating the outcome of each choice. Some I have regretted and some I have enjoyed.
Back in September I took off to go camping at Sauble Falls Provincial Park to clear my mind and to celebrate another year of being older.  While I was there I had this continuous nagging thought in my head…It’s time to start blogging.

Here I am. I’m not the greatest writer, however I know over time I will hone this skill. I hope my writing isn’t too cringe worthy for those who are professionals. Feel free to give the rookie some advice!

Moving forward now, I read something on my trip that really stuck out for me. It was about listing 10 values in order of highest to lowest that are most important to you. The top three will be the most important. So if you decide to give this a try, think carefully.

If you build your life upon these values, over time it will improve your life & happiness. I’m giving it a shot of course! It’s not that complicated. Right? I feel like this might be common sense for most people, or perhaps not. I know I’ve been missing out on this.

Example of Values

  • Comfort
  • Health
  • Adventure
  • Freedom
  • Success
  • Love
  • Security
  • Power
  • Wealth

What are your values? What makes you, you?

I’ve been participating in the daily grind for several years now. I have to admit, it’s mentally and physically draining. I’m sure there are millions of people out there who can agree with me.

I want freedom to do whatever I want. I don’t want to be stuck doing the same thing over and over again until I retire.
I need to educate myself as much as my brain can possibly handle.
I need to be the best & healthiest version of myself.

Nothing makes me feel more alive than hitting the road or trails. I figured it’s time to start building an adventurous lifestyle for myself.

Reading about values really pushed me to start blogging, because my values do not line up with the work I do now. I want to learn from others while sharing my knowledge & adventures.

Of course your list of top ten values will change over time. Think about it carefully for now, write it down. Start making those true values a priority in your life! I’m excited to give it a try myself.

Thanks for reading!
– Britt
